Question by Joseph: Why do people speak Queen's English while announcing their resignation after a sex scandal?

They have to retain some sort of dignity after the scandal. If they make a public speech riddled with grammatical errors and sounding like some uneducated buffoon, they not only have to deal with the humiliation of the scandal, but also deal with being ridiculed.
